Bring Romance Into Your Home This Valentine’s
While a lovely Valentine’s Day may include sharing a tasty bottle of wine at an exquisite restaurant and taking a walk along the beach with a loved one, there’s no shame in spending Valentine’s in your home.
However, it has to be done right.
This means bringing some extra life into your home beyond a bouquet and some candles. While there’s nothing inherently wrong with following some Valentine’s cliches, in 2022, your partner is sure to appreciate this special day more when you do something a bit more special.
1. Talk to a Florist
While maybe a trope, no Valentine’s Day can be complete without flowers. However, that doesn’t mean you have to stick to the standard 12 red roses. Instead, don’t be afraid to go off the beaten path. Not only will roses be more expensive this time of the year, but they’re expected.
Instead, opt for choices such as fragrant lilies, wildflowers, or your partner’s favorite flower. You can even choose a melody of brightly colored flowers that are sure to brighten up your home.
The trick here is to make it appear as if you hand-picked the flowers yourself versus hastily purchasing them at the last minute. Paired with some scented candles and incense, your home will become very warm and inviting.
2. Add Some Extra Comfort
Another element you’ll want to employ is having some extra comfort. If you’re on the lookout for designer furniture to make your home pop, don’t forget to purchase some extra fluffy pillows and warm blankets. You can either go for colors that are more neutral or something with a more frilly touch like big, fluffy pink pillows.
While you don’t have to go overboard, having plenty of soft pillows, new bedsheets, and a comforter can go a long way. You can also incorporate some throw pillows.
3. Don’t Be Afraid to Choose a Theme
You can also choose an overall theme (or themes) for your home design. You can decorate your home to look like your or your partner’s favorite vacation spot or dream place to visit. Some examples may include going tropical, having a more laid-back, rainy beach feel, a rainforest touch, or a specific city, such as Paris.
Of course, you don’t have to go crazy and paint your walls with lighthouses or palm trees, but picking up some easily removable wall art and a couple of seashell lamps can greatly enhance your home’s energy. Ultimately, you don’t always need custom furniture when designing a temporary space.
Just add some cute touches and your partner is sure to appreciate the effort. You may even incorporate other elements of the day into the design as well. For example, if your partner loves Italy, maybe have a nice clam risotto or linguine dish prepared alongside a decorated dining room.
4. Don’t Be Afraid to Make Lasting Changes
While Valentine’s Day only happens once a year, romance can strike any day. That’s why you can also go bold and incorporate designs and colors that are more permanent. This may include anything from repainting your walls with brighter colors, replacing your bed and other furniture, having a few crystal doorknobs and a crystal chandelier, etc.
